The staff of the Cochin College has in general kept up its tradition of efficient and dedicated service. Apart from giving instructions to students according to the prescribed syllabus they also aim at the full development of the latent potentialities of the young scholars. It has been the constant endeavour of the teachers to convince the students of the value of education and the need for consistent hardwork. A good number of our teachers possess reasearch degrees and a few of them are university research guides. The most important section of the college community is the teachers on whom depends the quality of the instiution more than on anybody else.

The Department of MATHEMATICS was established in 1967. It is headed by a teacher who is an M.Phil. The department offers B.Sc Maths Degree in self-financing stream and is a subsidiary of B.Sc Physics, Chemistry and B.A. Economics. There is a good collection of books in Mathematics in the college library. The department libraries are also well equipped with books in Mathematics.               The department has played a very important role in enabling students to secure ranks in their various subjects, specially B.Sc Chemistry and B.A. Economics.
